Mia Weinberg presents the ordinary in extraordinary ways. Through her work she aspires to re-awaken viewers to the wonder and mystery of those common things all around us that are so often overlooked. She believes that art has the potential to serve as a point of focus—a spark—that can lead us to become more present and engaged in our world.
Born in London, England, Mia left a career in industrial manufacturing, and moved to Vancouver in 1987. Since graduating from the Emily Carr College of Art and Design in 1994, her installation and photo-based art has been exhibited across Canada and in Europe, and is held in public and private collections locally and internationally. In the past decade, much of her work has been public art installations. She has been commissioned to create ten public art projects around the Lower Mainland and in Edmonton.
